Every now and again a song will play, and it takes you back to somewhere special. Tonight listening to Liza Tarbuck on Radio 2, and, by the way, how good is she? She played ‘Elbow, One Day Like This’, and it will always remind me of a night during the 2012 Olympics that we were fortunate enough to spend in London, and whatever happens, I will always be able to say that I have been to an Olympic event. It may only have been a football match at Wembley, and of no significance to our country, it was Mexico v Senegal, but the teams didn’t matter, and I will always be able to say I have been to an Olympic event.
I had tried for days and days to get tickets to the athletics that night, and it was the night that Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah all won gold medals and what a night that would have been had we been there. We settled for the big screen in Hyde Park, and a great night it was there too.
It is one of those days we will never forget, Saturday 4th August 2012, and any musical event or radio station can play that song whenever they want, and I will smile.
Thank you for reading and stay safe
Anxiety is prominent in today's society, we hear it mentioned more and more, probably with more people suffering from the condition with the COVID pandemic amongst us. I suffered and suffered quite badly and I wanted to put my story and my experiences out there for the world to read, and so to do that I created this site (at least Dan did)! It also allows me to follow my love of writing. I hope I can help someone, and I hope you can enjoy reading my posts. Thank you
