Please take a look at this photo, and this is cheating, it is that issue of exaggerating contact in football to unfairly win a free-kick and persuade a referee you have been fouled, and I am saying this as previously explained I am an ex-rugby player. Why is that relevant I hear you say, well let me explain.
As a rugby player you could run for yards, or should I say metres these days, and while running I could have another player practically ripping the shirt off my back, and it would not make me fall over, drop to the ground or jump in the air as he has done in this photo.
It’s not the best photo, and I will apologise for that, it’s a snip from a video, but it shows Mr Rashford jumping up in the air because someone has a little tug on his shirt, and as I say a little tug because that is all it was. Why does that make you fall over and make your legs curl up behind your knees? In my opinion, it is a disgrace and players who do this should be ashamed of themselves.
Marcus Rashford is a great young player, and he needs to make sure he takes this type of play-making out of his game and concentrate on his football instead of diving about the field! And as a comparison there is a photo of Rashford diving after a little tug on his shirt, the second is a photo of a rugby player having his shirt pulled with the same member of the opposition grabbing his legs. There are also two players pretty much all over his body yet he is still standing! Yes, excessive numbers won and the player eventually went to ground, but not after a one-handed tug on his shirt and certainly not with a jump into the air with legs curled up for a dramatic effect.
The second photo again shows a player having his shirt tugged quite hard but able to stand up quite easily and continue playing his game (all photos taken from action on my TV) at least trying rather than that dramatic falling and faking action we see on a football pitch – all football players take note and stop being so theatrical please!
Anxiety is prominent in today's society, we hear it mentioned more and more, probably with more people suffering from the condition with the COVID pandemic amongst us. I suffered and suffered quite badly and I wanted to put my story and my experiences out there for the world to read, and so to do that I created this site (at least Dan did)! It also allows me to follow my love of writing. I hope I can help someone, and I hope you can enjoy reading my posts. Thank you
